The 2027 Wedding Year in One Glance
If your family has started the 2027 venue hunt, here is the full picture: the drikpanchang-based lists that pandits and planners actually follow give 2027 roughly 96 shubh vivah dates for North India (a Bengaluru drikpanchang read counts 97 — it adds one extra May date). That is generous; one compiler’s count puts 2026 at just 62.
And the year has a shape. Weddings open on 15 January after the first Kharmas lifts, run hard through February and May, thin out in July — and then stop completely for four months. Not one shubh date between August and October. The season reopens on 10 November and closes again in mid-December. In my honest opinion, families who plan around this shape instead of fighting it have the easiest time booking venues, priests and flights.
January to March: The Winter Window
January gives 9 dates: 15, 18, 19, 20, 24, 26, 27, 30 and 31. The month’s first half is closed for Dhanur Kharmas, so every list starts at 15 January, the day after Makar Sankranti. Honest footnote: 24 January is on most lists but not on GaneshaSpeaks — confirm it with your pandit. We have a date-by-date January 2027 guide if you want nakshatras and timings.
February is the best winter-month pick — 13 dates, and every list agrees: 2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27 and 28. The 27–28 weekend and 14 February get booked first. Our February 2027 guide walks through them one by one.
March gives only 7 dates — 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 14 — and then Meena Kharmas begins around 15 March and the lists go quiet until mid-April.
April to July: The Summer Run
April gives 9 dates: 18, 19, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28, with 24–25 the spring weekend sweet spot. May is the richest month of the year — 18 dates in the Delhi lists (19 in the Bengaluru read, which adds 8 May; that is the date behind the 96-vs-97 difference). The run from 13 to 25 May is practically unbroken, plus 4, 7, 9, 30 and 31. June gives 16 dates: 1, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28. July gives 6 — 1, 7, 8, 9, 11 and 12 — and then Devshayani Ekadashi on 14 July starts Chaturmas. One caveat: 1 July is drikpanchang-listed but not on every cross-agreed set, so treat it as “confirm with your pandit”.
August to October: The Long Pause
Zero dates. Not a single shubh vivah muhurat in August, September or October, and every source agrees on why: Chaturmas (14 July–10 November), Venus combustion (Shukra Asta, roughly early July to mid-September — exact bounds vary by source), and September–October carrying Pitru Paksha.
Sensible families use this pause for the matching, not the booking: run the 36-guna Kundli Milan and a Mangal Dosh check before you sign a venue. And the vrat calendar keeps moving — Karwa Chauth 2026 falls on Thursday, 29 October, right in the middle of the pause.
November–December: The Season Reopens
10 November is Devutthana Ekadashi, and it is on every wedding list — the season reopens exactly where it should. November gives 11 dates: 10, 11, 15, 16, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26 and 29, including the season’s first weekend pair, 20–21 November (12 November is on one calculator only — unconfirmed). December gives 7 — 2, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13 and 14 — before the winter Kharmas closes the year from 16 December. One compiler singles out 13 December (Rohini on Purnima) as the month’s strongest date.
How to Actually Use This List
- Your city may differ by a date. Delhi and Bengaluru readings of the same drikpanchang tables disagreed on 8 May and 24 January. These lists are consensus, not scripture — take the shortlist to your family pandit and get the day’s exact muhurat timings for your city.
- A date is only half a muhurat. The lagna, tithi and nakshatra at the phera time set the actual muhurat. The auspicious marriage dates guide explains the method behind these listings.
- Book backwards from the weekend pairs — 27–28 February, 22–23 May and 20–21 November get taken first. That is not astrology, that is arithmetic.
